--- title: Elizabeth Shutters Insights and News | Dean Frost description: "Owner & Founder, Elizabeth Shutters (est. 1981)\nDean Frost founded Elizabeth Shutters in 1981 with a simple belief: the best shutters and closet doors are built from real materials, honest craftsmanship, and local pride. For more than four decades, Dean has led the company’s growth from a small California workshop into one of the state’s most respected manufacturers of whole-basswood shutters and custom solid-wood closet doors.\n\nDean’s expertise spans woodworking, architectural design, climate-safe materials, and California-specific construction standards. His commitment to building products that last a lifetime still guides every detail—from joinery and finish quality to installation and service.\n\nHis philosophy remains unchanged: make it well, make it local, and make it to last." image: https://insights.elizabethshutters.com/hubfs/2025%20closet%20doors/modern%20frosted%20doors%204.png --- CALL US AT 1-800-748-8377 - [info@elizabethshutters.com](mailto:info@elizabethshutters.com) [![Best shutter company in california](https://insights.elizabethshutters.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Eshutters%20LOGO%20closet%20and%20shutters%20white-1.png?width=3796&height=1015&name=Eshutters%20LOGO%20closet%20and%20shutters%20white-1.png "Best shutter company in california")](https://elizabethshutters.com/) - [Shutters](https://elizabethshutters.com/custom-shutters-handcrafted-in-california/) - [Finishes and Trim](https://elizabethshutters.com/shutter-color-choices-and-mounting/) - [Styles and Configurations](https://elizabethshutters.com/styles-and-configuration/) - [Closet Doors](https://elizabethshutters.com/closet-doors/) - [Custom Fit](https://elizabethshutters.com/custom-configurations/) - [Speciality](https://elizabethshutters.com/specialty-doors/) - [The Best Shutter Blog](https://insights.elizabethshutters.com/blog) - [Wholesale](https://elizabethshutters.com/design-inspiration/) - [About Us](https://elizabethshutters.com/areas-we-serve/) - [Areas We Serve](https://elizabethshutters.com/areas-we-serve/) - [Financing Options](https://elizabethshutters.com/12-month-same-as-cash-financing/) - [Frequently Asked Questions](https://elizabethshutters.com/shutters-closet-doors-faqs/) - [Schedule a FREE Estimate](https://elizabethshutters.com/contact/) - [Shutters](https://elizabethshutters.com/custom-shutters-handcrafted-in-california/) - [Finishes and Trim](https://elizabethshutters.com/shutter-color-choices-and-mounting/) - [Styles and Configurations](https://elizabethshutters.com/styles-and-configuration/) - [Closet Doors](https://elizabethshutters.com/closet-doors/) - [Custom Fit](https://elizabethshutters.com/custom-configurations/) - [Speciality](https://elizabethshutters.com/specialty-doors/) - [The Best Shutter Blog](https://insights.elizabethshutters.com/blog) - [Wholesale](https://elizabethshutters.com/design-inspiration/) - [About Us](https://elizabethshutters.com/areas-we-serve/) - [Areas We Serve](https://elizabethshutters.com/areas-we-serve/) - [Financing Options](https://elizabethshutters.com/12-month-same-as-cash-financing/) - [Frequently Asked Questions](https://elizabethshutters.com/shutters-closet-doors-faqs/) - [Schedule a FREE Estimate](https://elizabethshutters.com/contact/) This is a search field with an auto-suggest feature attached. - There are no suggestions because the search field is empty. # Shutter and Closet Door Insights Discover expert tips, design inspiration, and product insights from California’s #1 source for custom shutters and closet doors. ![Do Shutters Reduce Heat?
